What is a Classified Position?

Classified employees are not required to have a credential.  Classified position requirements typically include an equivalent to a high school diploma and 6 months to 2 years experience.  Classified positions are a great way to get your foot in the door if you are just starting out in the education field or new to the workforce.

Para Educator I

Salary: $14.65 - $19.95 per hour in 9 annual steps (no less than $15.00 minimum wage).

Salary: $18.33 - $24.24 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary Placement is based on experience.
Location: Rio Tierra
Hours: 7 hours/day; 5 days/week
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Employee Life Insurance available for employees who work 4+ hours per day (Full district contribution for 6+ hours/day; 50% contribution for 4-5.99 hours/day).

What is a Certificated Position?

Certificated employees are required to have a credential from the Commission on Teaching Credentials (CTC).

Now is the time to get in to teaching!  There are many programs to help aspiring teachers get their degree/credential quickly so you can start teaching. Check out California's Certification Map to learn more. Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) also offers a 2-year Inter Program (must meet certain requirements). 
 
*Certification requirements change so be sure to check with CTC and SCOE to ensure you are on the right track.
